Salvation and Baptism

Our church wants to help you and your child understand salvation, baptism, and church membership.

Kids’Gospel Class

Our Kids’ Gospel class walks you and your child through the story of the Gospel - the story of who God is and what He has done for us through Jesus Christ, and what it means to be saved. Whether your child has recently trusted in Jesus as their Savior and Lord, or they are asking a lot of big, important questions, this class will be very helpful to both you and your child. You will leave class with some activities to do at home with your child to help them further understand salvation and help them articulate what they believe. Contact Tori Moore to register your child for the next class.

Meeting with Minister to Families
Once you feel that your child has had a genuine salvation experience and there is evidence in their life of their faith, the next step after the Kids’ Gospel class is to schedule a meeting with Andy Wilbanks, our Minister to Families. Since the Kids’ Gospel class includes multiple families, this meeting provides a great opportunity for some individual conversations about your child’s faith. If you feel that your child is ready to publicly profess Jesus through Baptism, you will leave with some material to work through at home on baptism and church membership.

Baptism

Once you and your child have attended the Kids’ Gospel class, met with Andy, and completed the material on baptism, you can schedule your baptism with the Church Office. We encourage waiting until grade 3 for baptism to give time for understanding and so that kids are old enough to remember their commitment and baptism.

Church Membership

Your child can officially join Hunter Street Baptist Church as a member (with your support and permission, of course) once they have professed their faith in Christ and been baptized. To do so, both you and your child will sign a Commitment Card to officially join the church.
