Hurricane Disaster Relief Michael

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

As followers of Christ, our response to the hurricane disaster is to pray, give, send, and go.

  • Pray for victims and their needs
  • Pray for pastors and churches along the East Coast
  • Pray for the safety of first responders, volunteers and others offering aid
  • Pray for those working to restore power and other needed utilities
  • Pray that others will see God's grace and love during this time of tragedy

As a church, we will be responding to this disaster in three phases.

PHASE 1

Phase 1 is occurring now. We are to pray, and give financially. You may give through the church website or write a check and designate on the check or envelope that it is for “Disaster Relief.” All gifts go 100% directly to disaster relief.

PHASE 2

Phase 2 involves giving specific items at the following locations:

PHASE 3

Phase 3 will occur in the later weeks and months when we can send people and go to serve at a local partnering church. Our desire with any natural disaster is to partner with a local church and assist them in meeting the needs of their community. This may include collecting specific goods and/or sending volunteers to  minister and serve.

At this time, for Hurricane Michael, we will ask you to continue to pray for our neighbors in the impacted areas. We will update our church family on how to assist further once we have a local partnering church and learn how we can provide the best assistance for their needs.

UPDATE ON HURRICANE FLORENCE RESPONSE

We have been in contact with a local church, Tabernacle Baptist Church, in New Bern, North Carolina. We will be collecting and sending “Welcome Home Kits” to Tabernacle as part of our Giving Christmas initiative. More information will be provided through our Giving Christmas catalog. Tabernacle will be using the kits to help residents move back into their flooded homes. We are also currently in the early planning stages to recruit and send volunteers to New Bern, NC to assist Tabernacle in their efforts to minister to their community. If you are interested in learning more about these opportunities please email our missions team, Frank Blackwell or Karla Luttrell.
